Drawn together by our interest in computers and our desire to expand fellowship and service, we formed the ICUFR in 1991 - a mere handful of Rotarians who had a dream of connecting the Rotary world by computer.

Now we stay together as friends - many hundreds of us, who enjoy the fellowship of Rotary in cyberspace every day. Our purpose is to encourage the use of computers and computer-based communication to further the goals of Rotary. You are cordially invited to join us.

Meetings of the ICUFR are held electronically. We also hold an annual conference, in different places around the world,

ICUFR Achievements

ICUFR doesn’t do projects the way Clubs and Districts do. Our communication abilities do and have allowed us to supply and transmit information to assist in projects: both about using computers and the internet; and how to assist in events and catastrophes. Some of our achievements are listed here.

ICUFR offers its members:

1. State-of-the-art FORUM communications centre managed by our members for all Rotarians.

  • Searchable wealth of Rotary information and fellowship
  • High 'Content to Noise' ratio, but still friendly and easy to use
  • Useful categories and sections
  • Can have email Notifications when topics of interest are updated
  • Messages can be posted in many languages including Arabic and Japanese.

2. This friendly, dynamic website.

3. Active mail lists sponsored by Irwin Taranto:

A Rotary Discussion list - Click for more Information

A "friendship and fun" list – Click for more Information

A list for members of RIBI – Click for more Information

4. Monthly Newsletters sent by email. Newsletter Index

5. Annual Conferences where members can put a face to friends they’ve met online.

Outstanding speakers from the communications industry and from our own members, plus key note speeches from leading Rotarians.

Memorable social events for members and their partners

"Rotary began out of a fellowship concept. Service came afterward--- as a natural outgrowth. Fellowship is the glue that holds Rotary together. Assisting in the formation of our fellowship, Hugh coined the phrase "I See You From AfaR", to describe the potential International scope of ICUFR"
-Hugh Archer, President Rotary International 1989-90, Director of ICUFR

PDG Gordon Hankin says:

"as I was visiting clubs throughout my district I promoted the "Fellowships" and admitted that had it not been for the ICUFR I never would have stayed with Rotary. That afternoon when I walked into the Doubletree in Chicago and met a whole new "family" was a changing point in my life and eventually that of my district.
