I am the founder of the family business which I have recently handed over to my three sons. Although semi retired I retain the job of Editor of the weekly newspaper.
As a result of this position my interests are wide and currently I serve in a senior capacity on 11 community organisations covering all aspects of community life.
I enjoy a game of golf (handicap 18) and love the Theatre, classical music, Rotary activities and my family (7 Grandchildren).
For the 2005 - 2006 Rotary year I have taken the position of District Membership Services Chairman. I am passionate on membership development, focussing on recruitment, believing firmly if we don't have the members we can't give the service.
I devised a strategy at my club based on targetting by classification and we have increased our membership from 24 to 48 in four years. Being Editor of the local paper does helps the club and Rotary activities get good coverage. It is vital to re-inforce any recruitment strategy by having a high Rotary profile in your community. If they do not know what Rotary is and does you will not have the same level of success. |
